How Silly Can You Be?

How silly can you be if you really try? Come on now, you know you can do it. We all can be silly if we want to be. How about Silly Dispensationalism? Have you heard of that term? No? Well, maybe we need to start throwing that one around a little bit - after all some people are really trying hard to establish that group. In fact, some people go to extremes to find any and every excuse not to fellowship with you. Satan must really be pleased with those Christians. Why do they go to so much trouble to destroy unity? They can't be serving the cause of Christ - no matter how well they know scripture. After all, how many ways can you 'rightly divide' before the dividing becomes just plain silly? Or putting it another way - how many ways can you think of to build a wall between you and your Christian brothers and sisters? We all know about the 'starting of the church' issue. We are all familiar with the '12 in or 12 out' debate, but why not come up with something new for a change. Here is a good one...

What color is your KJV Bible? I believe that only the burgundy ones are the inspired, innerant, infallible Word of God. And it must say on the front of it in big gold letters KING JAMES VERSION. If you don't have a Bible like that you're a heretic!!

So how did I do? You like that? It sounds silly enough to catch on, doesn't it?

I'm not trying to offend anyone with this; I'm simply trying to point out that we need to stop trying to destroy unity, and treat our brothers and sisters in Christ with respect. We should love them - not criticize or judge them. So what if we don't all believe all the exact same things. So what if your neighbor uses a different Bible translation than you!!! So what if your church buddy is not the same kind of dispensationalist as you, or maybe not a dispensationalist at all. All of us who are saved by grace are part of the Body of Christ. Do you know you will be sharing Heaven with all those 'heretics' who use a different Bible translation than you? Not to mention all those Pentecostals!! Nowhere in God's Word does it say our theology must be correct to enter the Kingdom of God. Isn't that interesting?

I read a little story on another site recently that illustrates the point in another way. I'll share it with you.

A grace believer met another grace believer in the middle of the Golden Gate Bridge. They both were enjoying the view - just watching the sunset. One looked at the other one and said, "What an awesome God."
Guy number one turned to him and said, "You a Christian?" The second guy said, "Yes, I am a Christian." Guy number one said, "So am I," and they shook hands.
Guy number one said, "Are you a liberal or a fundamental Christian?" Guy number two said, "I am a fundamental Christian." Guy number one said, "So am I" and they smiled and nodded to each other.
Guy number one said, "Are you a covenant or dispensational, fundamental Christian?" The second guy said, "I am a dispensational, fundamental Christian." The first guy said, "So am I," and they slapped one another on the back.
Guy number one said, "Are you an early Acts, mid-Acts or late Acts, dispensational, fundamental Christian?" Guy number two said "I am a mid-Acts, dispensational, fundamental Christian." Guy number one said, "So am I," and they agreed to exchange Christmas cards each year.
Guy number one said, "Are you an Acts 9 or 13, mid-Acts, dispensational, fundamental Christian"? Guy number two said, "I am an Acts 9, mid-Acts, dispensational, fundamental Christian." Guy number one said, "So am I," and they hugged one another right there on the bridge.
Guy number one said, "Are you a pre-trib, or post trib, Acts 9, mid-Acts, dispensational, fundamental Christian"? Guy number two said, "I am a pre-trib, Acts 9, mid-Acts, dispensational, fundamental Christian." Guy number one said, "So am I," and they decided to exchange kids for the summer.
Guy number one said, "Are you a 12 in or 12 out, pre-trib, Acts 9, mid-Acts, dispensational, fundamental Christian?" Guy number two said, "I am a 12 in, pre-trib, Acts 9, mid-Acts, dispensational, fundamental Christian." Guy number one said, "You heretic", and then pushed him off the bridge.

The above story is a little humorous, but it is also rather sad. It is sad that people go to extremes to build walls between themselves and other Christians. This silly behavior does NOT glorify our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I encourage everyone to look for ways to come together; we have enough needless bickering in the Body of Christ.

The Society of Dispensational Webmasters is attempting to do just that. We exist to promote unity in the Body of Christ - specifically in the dispensational camp.
