A scheme to get rid of him I did devise, that was later found to my surprise,
That the scheme for him I did devise, proved to by my own demise.
Now tell me neighbor who was he, and tell me too who I may be?

The answer is found in the book of Esther

You may lose your edge and your light grow dim, Because of the damage that is caused by sin. Two damaged items by the Lord was spoken, One shall not be quenched nor the other broken. Both are necessary though if the scribe is to write. For while one tells the story, the other gives light. Christ used them both to enlighten Adam's race, Of His tender mercies and His amazing grace. If you search the word, I'm sure you will see, What the two damaged items here might be.

Answer is found in Matthew chapter twenty.

Not one man on earth was found, wise enough to slow me down, as along my course I traveled day by day. I know not how dear friend of mine, but in me others seemed to find, just when and where they were along the way.

And to me no matter what the cause, I would not stop nor even pause, everything seemed to move according to my pace. Then one day my course began to slow, and God made me to backward go, and the same way I came I did retrace.

Listen my brother about a journey once made, by a simple man who was a scribe by trade, a journey that required someone both wise and brave. The king placed great wealth within his hand, and told him to take it to a distant land, that the work already started there he might save.

One before him had already went, to that very place where he was sent, but now it was up to him to save the day. So the silver and gold he did divide, between twelve others that they might hide, the treasure from the thieves all along the way.

Now tell me neighbor if you can, what was the name of this simple man, and the one who went before, who was he? And while you take your long hard look, back through the pages of this blessed old book, tell me what the name of the king who sent them both might be?

Answer is found in the Old Testament

He held me in his hands that day, and in a single motion sent me away, not knowing what my destination might be. But after a while I came home, where he received me as his own, and held me once again don't you see?

Not long after there came a day, when once again he sent me away, now I don't know what he had upon his mind. So without a word I did go, but I also returned don't you know, and brought him a gift of the first thing I could find.

Now he received me once again, and in his hands he took me in, but just as he had twice before he sent me away. Unlike before when I left home, I decided tis time I'd stay gone. What am I, and who was it that would not let me stay?

It was really kind of wild, for the king was but a child, when he began over them to reign. Where he had them to tear down, every idol that they found, within the borders of his vast domain.

Into powder he had them grind, every idol they could find, until the nation had been completely purged. Then he had the powder spread, on the graves of all the dead, who in life these idols had so vainly served.

Then in honor to the Lord, he had God's house restored, and before his people the young king stood to read. The people they all heard, as he read God's Holy word, and to its laws they all vowed that they would heed.

Now this lad here in my story, who was crowned so young with glory, tell me neighbor just what was his name? And the book from where he read, to his people what God had said, tell me if you can from where it came?

Answer found in 2 Kings chapter 22

There was a prophet of many years, who prophesied in yester-years, who warned Judah of judgment that was sure to come. There was a man of God they surely knew, and all he prophesied did come true, though his warnings proved to anger some.

When the princes heard what the prophets said, they surely wanted the old man dead, so then off to the king the princes they all went.And it was there where the king was told, of a dungeon deep, dark and cold, a perfect place they said for the prophet to be sent.

So the king agreed to their wicked plan, to rid their city of this holy man, and it was off to the dungeon with the prophet they did go. Where there with cords he was bound, and by the princes lowered down, through the darkness to the miry clay below.

Then the princes were all heard to cry, let the old man here slowly die, with no water to drink and no bread for him to eat. But when the eunuch who served the king, heard the news of this dreadful thing, he ran out before the gate the king to meet.

And there for mercy he did plead, hoping that the king would heed, and the eunuch must have carried quite a lot of clout. For along with him the king did send, from his own house thirty men, and with cords made of rags they pulled the prophet out.

Now tell me neighbor if you think that you can, what is the name of this holy man, and the king in my story just who is he? And while you pause to take a look, back through the pages of this blessed old book, tell me what the name of the eunuch here might be?

The answer is found in Jeremiah chapter thirty eight.

Many a man from many a land shall pass through those open gates, Where a mansion fair beyond compare for each of them awaits.

There's a river there in that land so fair and a warm gentle breeze, There's a shiny throne that He sits upon and a tree with healing in its leaves.

There's a problem though with every soul all because of sin, So listen my son a change must come before any may enter in.

The Bible declares what every man shares and the Spirit does concur it, There are two things for sure you have to leave here before the kingdom you inherit.

What are they?

The answer is found in 1 Corinthians chapter fifteen.

In the book you will find, I had a brilliant mind, so it was necessary that I should write. I answered God's call, where I traveled with Paul, and my name it was filled with light.

I helped tell the story, of Christ and His glory, as He lived and walked upon the earth. I wrote of His cross, and how He died for the lost, and I even wrote of His blessed birth.

Then I wrote of the day, that He went away, and I wrote of the promise of His return. Now neighbor if you, look close at each clue, my name I am sure you will learn.

What is it?

When his letter was read, to him they said, no more gold had they to give. Then came his reply, that they should die, and none would be allowed to live.

Now the Bible does say, that he came on that day, and circled their city around, But to his great surprise, when the sun did rise, 185,000 lay dead on the ground.

When this news he was told, to Ninevah he rode, but his days of oppression were done, And while he prayed to his lord, he was slain by a sword, held in the hand of his son.

Neighbor if you take a good look, way back in the book, I am sure that you will see. All that I've written, about this one who was smitten, and what his name might be.
